Where Can You Get Xbox 360 Help?

By Alexander Thompson

Of course the easiest answer to the 'where can I get help when my Xbox 360 is down?' dilemma is Microsoft's XBox 360 website. But this answer is valid only as long as your product is still in warranty or if you just need answers to simple matters such as 'List of original Xbox games playable on Xbox 360.'

For more complex Xbox 360 problems you can get help by visiting the Xbox 360 forums, asking your questions on Yahoo! Answers or other similar sites, visiting Xbox related blogs and discussion boards and ultimately buying an Xbox 360 repair guide that usually has the answers to all your tech-related problems. Xbox.com has almost all the general answers you need plus a help section that will even teach you how to play right to reduce the possibility of injury (RSI - repetitive strain injury) and also how to keep the kids safe online. Another interesting support sections helps you deal with offensive players - a bitter reality of the online gaming community.

Also, if you are unaware of it, Xbox has a LIVE Code of Conduct that you should get familiar with, to avoid any penalties. Know the Xbox 360 terms of use and try to follow them as any deviation from these rules can get you into trouble. You can find manuals and system use help on xbox.com too - basically there is nothing the site doesn't cover, except Xbox fixes. Of course xbox.com will never tell you how to repair even the simplest malfunctions of your Xbox 360. Microsoft wants your Xbox in for repair and you'll have to pay if the product is no longer under warranty.

Fatal errors need more attention from Microsoft. Even the famous 'towel trick' cannot really help keep your Xbox trouble-free. Such tricks are temporary fixes that buy you time, but if you want your console to run again you have to look for professional help. Are you sure that the Xbox has a problem that can be fixed by any gamer with a screwdriver and a repair guide? You can take your chances and find out, but if you have any doubts do seek help. Remember that sometimes not asking for help might cost more than sending the Xbox to a special service for repair.

Thoughts about games

There's a real problem with traditional 5 Card Poker Stud. With only one pocket card there's not much doubt as to what a player is holding. Furthermore, since there are only 5 cards per player and no discards, most hands are going to be pretty low, mostly pairs and high cards. At least in Draw Poker the player gets a chance to improve their hand by drawing new cards. Not so in 5 Stud: you're stuck with what you get and the other players can see most of that.

In Wii boxing you can have your character do poses by moving your hands around. Example, put both hands up in the air as if you just won a victory.

In Wii Sports bowling, when you press up on the Directional Pad, it will zoom in on the lane. The zoom in sound is the exact same sound from Super Mario 64 anytime you moved the camera. You can place the sensor bar upside down and it doesn't reverse the directions of your movements

Unlike general in-game voice communication, an XBox 360 chat is a closed conversation between you and one other person. Your chat partner can be playing the same game you are, but can also be playing a different gameor watching a DVD movie, or listening to music. Both of you could, in fact, just be sitting around wondering what to do next

Cartoon Network Racing (PS2) - Score: 6/10

Cartoon Dash!

08.January.2006

When I first played Cartoon Network Racing it was at E3 with a large life-sized Dexter standing next to me cheering me on. Well as much as an oversized Dexter who doesn't speak can. At least he didn't tell me I was "Stooopid" at any time during my race. After a few test laps and a few crashes, I walke...Read More on Deeko.com

Borgata Poker Open

There are a number of poker tournaments coming up in September and October and we are profiling the ones that should be at the top of every poker player's list. First, let's take a look at Atlantic City. Have you been to the Borgata yet? The Borgata Casino is now the hot spot in Atlantic City, and for good reason. Everything about this place is first class and it feels more like Las Vegas than traditional Atlantic City. And, this is the setting for one of the top poker tournament choices in September - the Borgata Poker Open. Beginning September 11, there will be about a week of tournaments consisting of limit and no limit Texas Hold'em, and Seven Card Stud (buy-ins range from $500 to $2,500). The Borgata Poker Open concludes September 19 - 22, with a $10,000 no limit Texas Hold'em tournament, which is also the fourth stop on the World Poker Tour. If you like satellite tournaments, the Borgata will hold Super Satellites to the $10,000 WPT tournament each day from September 7 - 10, and again on September 18.
